Before you engange in a conversation

Author: As old saying goes, “Fail to plan is planning to fail.” However, there is another saying opposite to the previous one: “Planning is always one step slower than the changes.” Which one do you pick or which side are you standing?
My response to this decision is simple. It depends! Well, many of my friends and associate colleagues are getting frustrated when they heard my response like that. “Here you go again, another lecture from great Mr. Yang!” Their responses put me off a lot before I finally figure out two fundamental reasons behind their eye gazing.
Once you understand these facts, you can become a better marketer for marketing the products and services you represent. One of my mentors Eben Pagan once said in Get Attitude presentation: “If you can understand the problem your prospects are dealing with and you have the ability to describe better than they can, they will automatically assume you have the solutions for them which in turn gives you unique position to sell them something.”
So, are you ready for these secrets? Here you go:
- Most People do not want their problems to be fixed when they complaining, they simply want your attentions and your sympathy to their feelings.
- People do not want fishing, they want you cook the fish and place it in a silver plate and hand it to them.
What is your response to my answers? You may say, “Hey man, you are staying the obvious.” Or “I know that.” Or “Doesn’t everyone do that?” Regardless what your responses maybe, truth to be told, yes, we heard it before, but the real question is “Are you taking advantage of these understandings?”
A man’s heart is deepwater; only wise man can draw them out with good questions. Good questioning skills give you power to take actionable steps to direct your audience when you engage conversation with others. Which gives you power to market your products or services to do good for them.
As a marketer, you want to have unique conversations with as many prospects as you possibly can. However, if you have spent any length of time in the “real world” of marketing, you realize that you are not in control of the conversations and you do not have enough money to perform the repetitions you desire.
So, we need some sort of planning and the ability to be adaptive whenever the market situations changes. In fact, we need to learn the lessons from both quotes stated at the beginning of this post: We need to plan to ensure our objectives are met and the plan needs to be loose enough to adapt to changes.
So what is the answer you may ask?
Keep it simple. Simplity is genius. Uses it as guideline and build agile model around your ideas and grow from there. Be a farmer of the information age.

New Decade, new begining!
Today is a new day. This year is a beginning of a new decade.
